Karen Heine, D. Eng., President

Currently, Karen Marieke Heine is actively working to develop business for the company and supporting the FAA as a Subject Matter Expert, Oracle DB Developer, and Technical Lead for ABP-330 systems including REGIS, CWP, and OBIWAN.

Dr. Heine provided on-site management support to the FAAs Terminal Service Unit from 2003 until 2006.  In this capacity, her duties include:  implementing a new time collection system, conducting performance measurement, improving processes through modeling and automated workflows, developing training plans and materials, conducting training, providing business system support, and financial management analysis.   

From 1998 until 2003, Dr. Heine performed as Program Manager and Senior Systems Analyst for Titan Corporation.  During her tenure at Titan, she supported FAA clients by providing advice and guidance in strategic planning, system management, process improvement, and best practices.  She managed multiple teams of software and database engineers through full life-cycle software development for multiple projects for government clients.  She also managed and had hands-on experience with business process and requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, operational support, and maintenance efforts in support of software applications and data warehouses. 

 

Dr. Heine was Associate Systems Engineer for Raytheon E-Systems in Falls Church, Virginia from 1997 to 1998.  In this position she analyzed system requirements and design, performed trade-off studies, drafted specifications for large-scale defense systems, and performed network modeling using the Optimized Network Engineering Tool (OPNET).

 

Dr. Heine served on active duty as a Surface Warfare Officer in the U. S. Navy between 1995 and 1997, where she performed as Division Manager, Seamanship/Communications on the USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19), Yokosuka, Japan.  In this capacity she assigned shipboard tasks, monitored performance, provided counseling for professional growth, resolved disciplinary actions, and prepared appraisals for over 50 personnel.

Dr. Heine earned her Doctor of Engineering degree in Engineering Management from George Washington University in 2022. She earned a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with Computer and Communications emphasis from Virginia Tech in May, 2000.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering at the U. S. Naval Academy in May, 1994.

Karen Marieke Heine enjoys spending time with her family and friends traveling, walking, watching sports, playing cards, and doing puzzles.

 

The company is named after Karen’s middle name, Marieke.  She was so named after the song by Jacques Brel.  Karen hopes to bring as much passion, energy, and joie de vivre to the company and its customers as the singer brought to the song.
